At EDL, we believe in the power of education and the importance of equipping the next generation of designers with the knowledge and understanding of innovative materials. Our recent educational outreach efforts in Malaysia, held in collaboration with INTR and Taylor’s College at our Malaysia branch, reflect our ongoing commitment to inspiring students to explore the endless possibilities of surfacing materials.
Inspiring the Next Generation at INTR & Taylor’s College
Our outreach programme brought us to two Malaysia’s educational institutions – INTR and Taylor’s College – where we had the opportunity to engage with their interior design students. The sessions were curated to give the students a hands-on experience, allowing them to interact with our wide range of products, including high-pressure laminates, Compact surfaces, and new material technologies like Aptico’s thermal healing process.
Hands-On Learning: Bringing Design Concepts to Life
One of the key aspects of our sessions was the emphasis on hands-on learning. Students had the opportunity to feel and explore our diverse collection of textures, and finishes. We demonstrated Aptico’s thermal healing technology, showcasing how scratches and heat damage can be restored effortlessly, which fascinated many of the students.
Our Compact surfaces, known for their durability and elegance, were also highlighted, showing students how functional design elements can also be beautiful.
In addition to laminate and surface solutions, we introduced the students to our Viefe handles collection, which adds the perfect finishing touch to any design project. These handles are known for their aesthetic appeal and functionality, sparked lively discussions about the importance of details in interior design.
Fostering Creativity and Innovation Through Collaborative Learning
Our educational outreach at INTR and Taylor’s College wasn’t just about showcasing products, it was about fostering creativity and sparking ideas. The students actively participated in discussions and asked thoughtful questions. The goal was to encourage them to think critically about material selection, functionality, and to support their growth by providing the tools and insights they need to bring their creative visions to life.
Looking Ahead: Building Stronger Industry Connections
We are committed to supporting the design community, and our outreach in Malaysia is part of our broader initiative to strengthen ties with educational institutions. By providing students with the tools and knowledge they need, we hope to play a small role in shaping the future of interior design where we have a presence, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.
